First Days of Practice / Need to Know

    Hello Athletes and Families,

Summer Swim Starts next week. Here are some basic things to know about swimming for JCP Porpoises.

    1.  Bring working equipment. This means suit that fits and goggles that work. Have your athlete test goggles before Day1 so they do not miss skill development due to equipment management. If your athlete requires a cap it is best to get it on before walking through the gate so that the beginning of practice is not compromised.

    2. Sunblock. If your athlete needs sunblock. Please apply BEFORE arrival at pool. Application of sunblock within 5 minutes of entry to pool does 2 things; 1. Destroys the efficacy of the pool chemical balance 2. Damages machinery needed to run the pool.

    3. Water. It'll be hot. Bring water everyday as dehydration occurs quickly.

    4. Medical stuff. If athlete requires inhaler or any medical assistance, make sure these items are brought with them and are in close proximity. Coaches should be told about said items and situations in which they are necessary.

    5. Late or Sick. If your late, no worries, life happens.  We will work with you. Be safe getting to pool.  Once at pool act like your late; Hustle.  If your sick please stay home until symptoms improve.

    6. Golden rule. This is the MOST important. We are a community team. We are all neighbors. Please take the time before the first practice to explain this to your athletes.  What we teach athletes is that Everyone's actions matter. Those actions can be very positive or negative for a group, team and community. We seek to make an environment where everyone is valued as an integral part of this group. In saying this, NO DEROGATORY behaviors will be tolerated.

    7. Ask Questions. My email [email protected]

    Best times,
